Sam Orlandi was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At 15 years of age he became the youngest artist, at that time, to show his work at the Carnegie Library (San Juan, Puerto Rico), and later at the Museo de Arte de Ponce (Ponce, Puerto Rico) as part of the prestigious collective exhibit of the “8vo Salón de Humoristas”. While undertaking his BFA degree, he was profiled as a rising young sculptor on the Public Television Network of Puerto Rico (WIPR) by the acclaimed Latin American art critic Antonio J. Molina. He received a BFA degree in Studio Art (Sculpture) at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, studying under well-known Texan sculptor and foundry expert Harry Geffert. He then lived in San Francisco, CA, until 2000, where his art was exclusively commissioned and acquired by private collectors in San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, CA; and San Juan, PR. He was also a professional recording and performing musician during these years in San Francisco. In 2000 he continued with his nomadic ways and returned, for a 5-1/2 year spell, to Puerto Rico. From 2005 to 2007 he briefly resided in South Florida, before making his way to Santa Fe, NM where he now lives. His work consists of integrating various techniques while incorporating found and collected objects.
